I was raised in a close Christian family who faced challenges with a prayerful attitude and a purpose driven family life. I believe my faith truly became my own based on the realization that God would see me through personal struggles because he loved me as a chosen child, regardless of my imperfect nature. Through that love, God has hopes, expectations and spiritual life goals for me, which continue still, no matter the twists and turns of life in a fallen world. I still believe that today.
Within basic tenets, I believe God will use each elder's gifts in many different ways. My vision for the eldership is to continue to function as a diverse group united in the ultimate goal of bringing the love and care of Christ to the family of faith at Highland, and into our world. With the addition of new elders, my hope is that we may each form closer relationships with the members of our shepherding groups, as well as others in our spheres of involvement and influence.
To continue our prayerful efforts to see God's love through Christ as the most important matter - to us as members, as a church body and to those who do not know Christ. To encourage the meeting of our community's needs both physically and spiritually. To continue our encouragement of unity through diversity based on the calling of God to various members. To continue our efforts to value members of all ages within the Highland family. To encourage the expression of artistic gifts given by God to be used in worship - a worship designed to meet the needs of many beliefs and comfort levels. To be known in our community as an accepting family of faith, whose beliefs can be seen in action.
