My spiritual journey has not been a blinding light conversion experience; but, rather has been a continual and recurrent rejuvenation and commitment to the Lord. Through the trials of this life, I have found God to be faithful. From the heights of mountain trails to thedry valleys of the desert, I have come to realize that the burden I carry allows me to go a little further down the trail ... when I give up a portion of myself to Him - Jesus will fill that void, if I allow Him. I have come to trust that God continues to pursue me and is waiting to embrace me - every time I turn (back) to Him. Looking back on the times I have walked alone, I realize that he walked beside me and behind me, and yes - He's often carried me, even when I did not know it. My journey has been blessed by a loving and supportive wife and threewonderful children, who have given me purpose and encouragement in this walk. Iam content to know the riches of this life are not of this world. Each day as I arise to a new sunrise and the singing of birds, I know I have been set apart and have peace in the assurance that God has made this day and there will be joy in it!

My vision for the Highland church is for us to be a people who continue to establish the Kingdom of God in the neighborhoods, schools, and businesses of Abilene... a people who are known as "Jesus" to this community - reaching out to the hurting, hungry, helpless, and lost because we have good news for them. I would hope we would be a people where all believers will find brotherhood, strength, and encouragement in a common walk with Jesus Christ... an extended family. I envision a people who step out of the comforts of our own lives to meet people where they need us... wherever that may be.
