Bryan and Becky Return to Brazil

On September 28 we will move to Itu, Brazil. Itu is a city well-known to Highland members because of our 10 plus years of partnership with Antenor and Phyllis Goncalves. We have a commitment to stay three to five years. I will continue my employment with Continent of Great Cities. My title will be Director of On-field Church Development. Becky will be my Administrative Assistant. My duties will include:
• Recruiting and training church-planting teams composed of Brazilian Christians
• Caring for and coaching Continent church-planting teams working in South America
• Developing vision and leadership among national church leaders
We are convinced serving in these ways will place us in our ministerial “sweet spot.” Although making this move with mixed feelings, we have no doubt God has shaped and formed us for many years to prepare us for this ministry challenge.
This is the right time in our lives to make this move. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary this July! We have raised our four sons and have an “empty nest.” These life experiences qualify us to work with young church-planting families as they struggle to balance the demands of life as full-time ministers with the privileges and obligations of marriage and parenthood.

Our return to Brazil, after 17 years in the U.S., means our lives have come full circle. Long-time Highland members will remember that we served in Brazil as Highland’s missionaries from 1983 through 1992. We are thankful to be returning to Brazil, once again, as Highland’s missionaries.

We need your prayers and your encouragement. Becky and I share the Apostle Paul’s thoughts when he wrote the church in Rome saying, “Join me in my struggles by praying to God for me.” Romans 15:30

Your fellow servants,
Bryan and Becky Gibbs
