Adult Faith Ministry

inside_header:

There is no more exciting adventure than the lifelong pursuit of following Jesus. Adult communities of classes and small groups provide a place to become and a place to belong, a place to experience the life-changing power of the Word of God in the context of meaningful relationships.

The mission of the Adult Faith Ministry is to provide places where together with God, we will:

Form Christlike Lives
Grow a Community of the Spirit
Equip God’s Mission in the World

• Sunday Morning Bible Classes
• Wednesday Night Meetings
• Weekday and Evening Bible Studies
• Small Group Ministry
• MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

Sunday Morning Bible Classes for Adults
A wide variety of Bible classes meet each week to welcome all and nurture adults in their faith journey. Each class is unique in size, format, and focus. Classes are organized in three Learning Tracks: Life Light, Journey, and Equipping. Each Learning Track has a different focus and type of class. Some classes will continue throughout the year; other classes will meet a set number of weeks. Feel free to select one or more Bible classes within a year that will inspire, equip, and challenge your spiritual formation for the sake of others.

Wednesday Nights
See our current Wednesday night schedule.

Weekday and Evening Bible Studies
Daytime and evening classes meet for in-depth Bible study and discussion for men and women throughout the year. Daily homework and small group discussion is an emphasis in Bible studies for women using the Beth Moore video curriculum. Highland neighbors and the Abilene community are welcome. Childcare is provided.  See a current list of Bible studies.

Small Group Ministry
It is through safe relationships that we can come to know one another intimately enough for us to care for each other and live out the call to true community and service in the world. Sunday evenings are the time that Highland dedicates to meeting in small groups at homes and at the Highland facility. Many small groups form through a shared focus of spiritual interest: Bible study, fellowship and hospitality, prayer, accountability, ministry and service, healing and support, evangelism, and the practice of other spiritual disciplines. Currently meeting and continually forming are Small Groups, Lifeteams, Covenant Groups, and new Spiritual Formation Groups.

MOPS
Mothers of Preschoolers is a national organization that desires to meet the distinct needs of mothers for the glory of Christ. A group meets the first and third Monday mornings of each month during the school year. Each meeting consists of fellowship and a special presentation to encourage and inspire. Classes and childcare are provided for babies through five year olds.  Visit the MOPS website at www.abilenemops.com.

Highland's Adult Faith Ministry is led by Mary Lee Mattis, who has been on staff for 12 years. Mary Lee coordinates all of the Adult Bible class activities and curriculum. She also provides leadership for our small group ministry.
