University Ministry

Our Vision
Highland’s University Ministry seeks to provide opportunity for students to engage in community, discipleship and ministry.
Community: The primary places students find community at Highland is in weekly small groups, Sunday and Wednesday night assemblies and Fusion activities (retreat, monthly gatherings, etc). These groups and events offer environments for intimate relationships which facilitate accountability, give support in all season of life and foster space for discipleship and supply means to participate in ministry.
Discipleship: We at Highland see discipleship as a means to a greater end, service for and devotion to Jesus Christ. Spiritual disciplines of all sorts, teaching and reflection on biblical and Christian themes and active participation in ministry are the means by which we hope to achieve disciplined lifestyles.
Ministry: Highland offers students a multiplicity of opportunities for service and ministry in the Kingdom. Opportunities extend from involvement in the Children’s, Youth and Community ministries at Highland, to other citywide activities (i.e. working with the refugee population in Abilene, Christian Ministries of Abilene, etc) and finally to domestic and international mission trips with other Highland members. The Highland vision to Restore Highland, Restore Abilene and Restore the World provides the spring board for the university students at Highland to integrate into the larger church body and make a difference in the Kingdom.
