Restoring the World by Making Peace in the Muslim-Majority World

THE INSTITUTE OF MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES (IMES) AT THE ARAB BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

Peacemaking is at the heart of the Gospel, and during the past five years, our partnership with ABTS has centered around peacemaking in the Muslim-majority world. One primary way we’ve supported IMES is through the Khebz W Meleh (KwM) initiative, which is translated “Bread and Salt.”

Around tables, Muslim and Christian students and teens share a meal together, finding ways to talk about their faith and how it forms their lives. The friendships built around these tables have begun to change communities.

Although KwM remains a powerful ministry in Lebanon and other parts of Africa, our partnership is changing in 2023. This year, we hope to create a new partnership through ABTS by hosting members of their faculty in Abilene as they present peacemaking workshops with Highland leaders and members. We believe what they have learned in Lebanon would be beneficial to us as well.
