FREE Summer Meals 2025

July 25 - August 8

Last summer, Highland and the Abilene Hunger Coalition served approximately 12,000 free meals to Abilene children and their families. Once again, we are providing over 500 meals per day at the end of July and the first part of August.

Now, we need volunteers for the 7th Annual Free 2025 Summer Meals: There are many children who rely on the Abilene ISD Free & Reduced Breakfast & Lunch program during the regular school year. While AISD continues their program into June and July, summertime is still often the hungriest time of year for many children. To support children without access to proper nutrition, when they’re not in school, Highland, the Abilene Hunger Coalition and other civic organizations continue to offer the FREE Summer Meals program after AISD closes their program at the end of July. And, it’s supporters and volunteers like you who make all of this possible.

Will you prayerfully consider taking a journey with us this summer, July 25, July 28-August 1, and August 4-8, 2025 and help us put a dent in the summer childhood hunger crisis? Again, families with children (ages 8+) are welcome! The Cooking Team prepares approximately 500 meals for the Highland sponsored Meal Distribution sites. This summer, we are thankful for the University Church of Christ for their commitment of a second Cooking site. The Highland sponsored sites include Grace Fellowship, WIC Office, Mockingbird Library, the Abilene Housing Authority, and two mobile sites, Mann Steam Academy and Ortiz Elementary.

Here’s how you can help!
