Additional opportunities range from Children and Youth Bible Class Assistants, Van Drivers, Prayer Team, Worship Band Team, and Worship Speaker Team. Please see each opportunity below.
Adult Faith Teachers/Preachers: Each Wednesday in the auditorium we have 30minutes of praise and worship followed by a 30 minute adult lesson (7:00pm-8:00pm). Teachers may sometimes teach a series or just a one-time lesson. The subjects are flexible. You will not be teaching to a very large group. Open discussion works well. Handouts are welcomed. Please consider using your gift of teaching here. Contact Darell Martin (325) 829-7753 or darellwithoner@yahoo.com
Worship Team: If you have a talent in music and a heart for Praise and Worship, and are interested in helping with Freedom on Wednesday nights (i.e. leading worship, playing an instrument or singing) Contact: Michael Gilliland (325) 338-7706 / michaelgsiphone@gmail.com
Van Drivers: One driver and if possible an assistant are needed to pick up friends and neighbors each Wednesday evening prior to the start of the 6:30 pm meal. Generally, you pick up the Community Ministries van at Highland and plot out a route. Your evening begins at about 4:00 pm and ends at about 9:00 pm. You must pass a background check, driving background check, and participate in a child abuse course. Contact: Terry St. Pierre (325) 386-3460 or tailpipeterry@icloud.com
Children’s Bible Class: Currently, we have a small class of children grades 1-5. At this time, we have a couple of teachers, but it is hard for them to cover every week so we are looking for extras. Please consider helping with the children. Jesus loves them! Our policy is that no adult is alone with a child. You must pass a background check and participate in a child abuse online course to volunteer. You are welcome to come observe before deciding. Youth/Teens Bible Classes: Volunteers need to understand that many of these kids that come into the classroom are new to Christianity or have no context for it at all. Many of them also have so many walls put up to protect themselves that it is hard to get any regular message to them. The biggest focus is building relationship with them, giving them advice on life, and sharing the Word with them in a way that is easier to understand, which means explaining it through experiences almost like a modern day parable.
You must pass a background check and participate in a child abuse online course to volunteer. You are welcome to come observe before deciding. Contact Benjamin Kimble (325) 322-2038 / bak13a@acu.edu
