Jeff Nelson
Jeff started working at Highland in June 2017 as a Worship Minister. Jeff leads the worship ministry along with Michael Stanford. He leads the a cappella service on a regular basis and is responsible for vocalists in both a cappella and instrumental services. Jeff works in tandem with the Worship Planning Team to design, create and implement all worship services and related special events. He is passionate about connecting the hearts of worshipers with their Creator.
Jeff led worship at Highland from 1982-1987 while working at ACU. He moved to the Preston Road Church of Christ to be the first worship minister in churches of Christ. After nine years in Dallas, he and wife Carol moved to San Antonio to be the Worship Minster at Oak Hills Church for 23 years. Jeff was invited to return to Abilene in 2017 after leading worship at Highland for the life celebrations of two dear friends here. It was a true joy for him to return.
Jeff and Carol have two grown children. They love to travel and look forward to more traveling when their employment days slow down. The canines in their home are full-fledged family members and love Jesus, too.
