Julia Six Aldriedge

Counselor

M.MFT, LMFT-Associate Supervised by Gretchen Etheredge

Julia Six, returned to Abilene after living in Philadelphia for five years during which time she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Temple University. Her desire to pursue a career-field through which she could enrich the lives of others brought her back to Abilene where she earned a Master degree in Marriage Family Therapy from ACU. During her coursework, Julia served as an intern at Highland Counseling Center and was thrilled to be invited to become a member of Highland’s staff as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Julia finds that the collaborative and narrative models of therapy lends itself to helping couples, families and individuals determine their own path to healthy relationships and choices, insisting that the client is the expert on his or her life. Julia sees her role as a therapist is to help clients consider and explore their life experiences and future goals through conversation. Another element of counseling that is important to Julia is the use of Animal Assisted Therapy, which her and her dog, Waffles, are certified in to help clients with depression, anxiety and a host of other topics that come up in our daily lives.
